Whole grilled sole, English mozzarella with local tomatoes, and a fishcake with handpicked crab — August cooking at The Oarsman. Dave Dunbar sings swing and jazz on the terrace on bank holiday Sunday, 31 August. Steak night runs every Wednesday, and children under 12 eat free early evenings until the end of the month. Shade on the terrace, air conditioning inside. Come and say hello.

Now Serving
Head Chef Scott Smith is cooking light and close to home this month.
Whole fish off the grill, tomatoes, fennel and basil at their best — the produce doing the heavy lifting, with everything else built around it.
BBQ whole grilled sole, lemon and caper.
Smoke from the grill. Sweet, buttery fish, the dressing cutting through.
English mozzarella, local tomatoes, basil.
Tomatoes dressed simply in mustard, a sweet tomato chutney, fennel lightly pickled and a basil dressing over the top.
Cod and haddock fishcake, baby gem, handpicked crab.
A light bite or the start of a long lunch. Crisp, bright, unctuous.
Steak Night
Bavette, frites and a glass of house wine for £22, every Wednesday.

Bank Holiday Sunday
Dave Dunbar sings on the terrace on Sunday 31 August, 4pm until 6pm — Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby and the rest of the standards.
Sunday lunch runs until 4pm, so come and eat first, then stay on for the music. Frozen palomas, and nowhere to be on Monday.
Kids Eat Free This August
Monday to Saturday until 31 August, one child under 12 eats free with every adult dining, 5pm until 6.30pm. Up to four children per table.
An early dinner in the school holidays, without the negotiation.
We look forward to welcoming you
