NOVEMBER at the Oarsman

The clocks have gone back and the evenings have shut in early. At The Oarsman, that means the fire’s lit, the bar fills up by five and the kitchen moves to the dishes that suit the weather: bone-in sirloin, long-cooked beef, roasts that take their time.

It’s also the month Christmas starts to book. So here’s what’s on, from a guest chef next week to the last night of the year.

Bryn Williams at The Oarsman

On Wednesday 11th November, Bryn Williams cooks alongside Head Chef Scott Smith. Scott worked in Bryn’s kitchen at Odette’s in Primrose Hill, and this is the two of them cooking together again in Marlow. You’ll find dishes such as Crisp Ox Tongue, Creedy Carver Duck Breast, and Odette’s Jaffa Cake.

The Menu is £65pp for the five-course meal with an optional wine flight available on the night.

AUTUMN INTERNATIONALS IN THE SNUG

England’s Autumn Internationals are on in the snug at The Oarsman, with four matches through November. Better with company and a pint, and the snug is the place for it.

Sunday 8th, England v Australia, 3.10pm
Saturday 14th, England v Japan, 4.40pm
Saturday 21st, England v New Zealand, 2.10pm
Weekend of 27th to 29th, England v TBC, opponent and kick-off to be confirmed

Christmas Party Menu

Three courses for £45 a head, for tables of six and up, from 23rd November. You’ll find dishes such as prawn cocktail, corned beef brisket and Clava brie rumblethumps to start, St Brides turkey, braised featherblade and seared stone bass to follow, and Ecclefechan tart or cold chocolate mousse to finish. There’s a vegetarian main too.

Christmas Dining

Not every Christmas needs a party. The à la carte runs all December for tables of any size, and you’ll find dishes such as roast Chiltern venison with pickled pear, trotters and bacon on beef dripping toast, pigs in blankets with honey mustard and warm ginger loaf with salted caramel ice cream. The Coravin means the best bottles still pour by the glass.

Private Dining in Marlow

If you’re looking for a private dining space for a Christmas party, The Room Upstairs seats fourteen and holds twenty standing, with a door that closes on all of it. It goes first every year, and the Fridays and Saturdays in December go first of all.

We look forward to welcoming you
